GotMailG

The Apple Dashboard Widget gotMailG does nothing else but tell you the number of unread messages in your Gmail inbox. According to the creator, gotMailG is a widget “without any fancy graphics” and it doesn’t use up much of your Dashboard space. A user comments, “This is probably one of the few useful widgets out there!”

Something a little more fancy is a Gmail widget showing a vase of flowers (one flower equals one new inbox message).
