Family Time Capsules

I’m not talking about time machines. A family time capsule is the thing you put in photographs and stuff, then seal it, wait for a decade or two, and look at it again – thus, be taken back to the past. A word of warning, though:

“Leave out any substance that could decay and damage the other contents of the box. This includes rubber, wool, wood, PVC, and any perishable or edible item. If you must include any of these, put them in an air-tight plastic bag. (...)

Black-and-white photos last longer than color photos and will not fade as much – use them whenever possible.”

A digital alternative would be just putting up a homepage and hoping for a service like Archive.org to come along and index your content. I wonder, what will last longer?
