Blogger Translates Book, Gets Shut Down

A guy took it upon himself to translate Milan Kundera’s novel “L’Identit√©” (Identity) into Czech as there was no such translation available so far, and in early June published the results with Google’s Blogger at totoznost.blogspot.com – in a single blog post, nonetheless (see Yahoo’s cache). Google then received a copyright infringement takedown notice from a Czech agency representing Milan Kundera*, and from what it looks like now, shut down the blog. The PDF of the translation was still available on a Russian domain at this time.

[Thanks Gary.]

*Quote from the letter: “According to Article 8 of Berne Convention, authors of literary works shall enjoy the exclusive right of making and of authorising the translation of their works.”
