Jimmy Wales Setting Copyrighted Works Free?

PC World says “Wikipedia is considering a plan to purchase copyright content and make it available under public domain.” Is nice!

More YouTube Removals

NewsCloud reports that YouTube was asked to remove all Daily Show, Colbert Report and South Park video clips from the site due to copyright infringement, and obliged. It’s possible the attorneys of Comedy Central are behind this move, though nothing specific is known. Also, as The Guardian reports (reg-only, but quoted at Bloggers Blog), YouTube was asked to remove 1,000 sports clips. NewsCloud argues that remaining clips may need to qualify as “fair use,” e.g. a smaller clip from another show embedded in some original analysis.

Update: While NewsCloud reported all videos as listed are missing, actually lots of them but not all are missing. [Thanks Mark!]
