Pondering Google Blog News and More

Wouldn’t it be nice to have something like Google Blog News – which works exactly like Google News, but indexes ~10,000 authoritative blogs instead of traditional news sources? And also, wouldn’t it be nice to have Google Custom News, where developers can upload a list of their own sources (say, hundreds of URLs related to gaming)... to make for their own Google News to offer to a community?
