As forum members noticed yesterday, some new functionality has been rolled out to Google Page Creator. The Official Google Blog today confirms that they’ve added three new features:
- Image editing allowing users to crop, rotate, lighten, darken and add “crazy special effects” to uploaded images without needing to download any additional software.
- Multiple sites functionality appears to be back for good. (First introduced in September as an experimental feature, it was removed last month.) Garett Rogers points out that this, coupled with the new feature that lets you hide your sites, could help reduce spam sent to Gmail addresses by spam bots that have utilized searches such as [inurl:googlepages.com]. On the other hand, it could increase the amount of spam hosted by Google as every user now has up to four extra sites – and this includes spammers.
- Pages for mobile is a feature that apparently means every Google Page Creator site “automatically has a mobile edition”. What it really means is that if you visit a Google Page Creator site using a device that sends a mobile user-agent, Google will redirect your request through their Google Mobile Proxy, which can actually be used to create a “mobile edition” of any website you like.
If you want to try out new Google Page Creator features before they’re officially released in future, don’t forget to enable Experimental features in your site settings. However, Google provides this feature with the following warning: “Not for the faint of heart.”
