Ask Goes Live With AskX Experiments

Ask USA has relaunched, following up on an older “universal search” experiment that was available for some time now on their sandbox AskX.com. They now call their integration efforts – with all kinds of results on one page, like images, web pages, related searches or video (depending on your query) – “Ask3D”, as the Ask blog tells. “3D” is supposed to represent the three dimensions of searching: query expression, investigating results, and making up bullshit product terms for marketing purposes digging deeply into content. It makes sense for Ask to find a search niche of their own, though Google also started to promote their “universal search” efforts by now... [Thanks James Xuan!]
