Google has added another blog to its list of official blogs. This one focuses on Gmail. Better late than never. :)

Let's hope this means new features.

No, I think someone decided that every Google product must have its own blog. Up next: Calendar, Groups, Picasa (http://googlephotos.blogspot.com/), Notebooks, Mobile (http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/), Translation...

I was trying to be a bit optimistic. Development on Gmail seems to have halted along with Google talk and Calendar.

I'm still hoping for a reorganised settings page on Gmail seeing as the current one has had so may things added to it, it looks cluttered compared to the rest of Gmail.

We're overdue for a Gmail and GTalk client updates. I think (hope!) that there's going to be a big communications push from Google, and the GrandCentral acquisition is part of that. I think Google's relatively low profile on the iPhone (Yahoo supplying push email?) is an indicator that Google has it's own mobile priorities.

The timing however, as always, remains nebulous...

We need better contact management in Gmail! Pretty please...:)

I was under the impression that the Gmail contact feature was being updated a few weeks ago, but I never heard anything about it again. Odd.

Instead of a better contact management in Gmail why not make an address book where you can easily add complete address information about people and use it through out the Google Services, like google checkout (to send gifts), gtalk (maybe in future to place calls), and also grand central may be...

Added this to the Google's blogs page. I also added Yahoo's official blog now (before it only contained Yahoo's search blog, but Yahoo being one of the main Google competitors, I think it makes sense...). On that note does anyone know if there is a single official "general" Microsoft blog?

See, this is why they missed that ill written blog post by Lauren. There is no way they can properly review all the posts for all these blogs, and at the same time make timely posts about things. I imagine that reviews or just quick scans (Hey review this I want to post this now, while the Sicko movie is still showing. Hmm, good , post it.)

There's the MSDN blogs (developer, not general really), also, that's accross all Microsoft products. There is a single feed for all the blogs.

I just hope they don't go as far as creating a Google Sets Blog.

Heh. Maybe a "lost & forgotten Google products" blog to wrap up all the smaller things. Older Google engineers could blog about stuff like the golden days of the Google SOAP API...

Re the contact management: I agree with Inferno: a persistent contact interface, accessible across Google services, would be a godsend.

Re all the new blogs: it would be v cool if they didn't make their first post always a "hey look, this is a new blog, and a first post!" but waited until there was something new to say . . . Then we'd be reading them avidly.

Microsoft has a press pass rss feed. It's not a blog but its the closest thing I could find to company news and product info.

They also have community blogs written by individual Microsoft employees.

I'll watch the PressPass for a bit to see how well it would fit...
