http://www.mytrashmail.com/anti_spam.aspx has created a cool piece of code which, when a spam-bot is detected will link to its site where it serves up 100 fake email addresses, which the spam bot harvests and clogs up the spammers system. 100 for each visit, as the site explains is a lot. 50 visits by a spam-bot = 5000 fake email addresses. Since outer-court.com had 96,394 view yesterday and blogoscoped.com had 3,653 some of these would have been spam-bots.

The code is

How do you know that?

About the site, I think it's just a way to get backlinks fast and those fake addresses won't make the spammers stop. They make a lot of money and they don't need to invest too much (http://ask.yahoo.com/20050103.html).

That's the traffic rank (http://www.alexa.com/site/help/traffic_learn_more#traffic_rank), not the number of page views. And Alexa is not a reliable source for traffic information.

Yeah, Alexa shows wrong numbers – it's not connected in any way to the actual page views here (other than perhaps coincidental overlap, so I'm not referring to the specific number you quoted... this number may or may not be true, I just spotted them putting up "fake" numbers in the past, so I wouldn't trust them on this...).

What pageviews do you get?

Over the last month, Google Blogoscoped received 471,530 visits and 722,374 page views, Google Analytics says. (That's not counting all who read from the RSS feed... though I will try counting those views too one of these days...). I don't have Analytics on every Blogoscoped page though, like a couple of tools around...
