Search Gmail from Google Toolbar

Just saw an alert in my Gmail settings page saying:

"New! Get the Google Toolbar, now with Gmail search, and search your mail quicker than ever."

That linked to this page, which shows an extra feature called "Gmail search":

Installing the 15KB download (named "GmailToolbarInstaller.exe") just adds a Gmail icon to your Google Toolbar that either searches Gmail (or takes you to your Gmail inbox if there is nothing entered in the search box).

After fiddling with my registry, I found you can add your own Custom Searches to the Internet Explorer Google Toolbar too.

This means I can now search Yahoo, MSN, Alexa, Ebay, Whois and basically any other site that uses a query string right from your Google Toolbar.

More on this here:

(P.S. Please forgive me for not having Firefox as my default browser!)
