Just saw an alert in my Gmail settings page saying:
"New! Get the Google Toolbar, now with Gmail search, and search your mail quicker than ever."
That linked to this page, which shows an extra feature called "Gmail search":
http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-toolbar/
Installing the 15KB download (named "GmailToolbarInstaller.exe") just adds a Gmail icon to your Google Toolbar that either searches Gmail (or takes you to your Gmail inbox if there is nothing entered in the search box). |
After fiddling with my registry, I found you can add your own Custom Searches to the Internet Explorer Google Toolbar too.
This means I can now search Yahoo, MSN, Alexa, Ebay, Whois and basically any other site that uses a query string right from your Google Toolbar.

(P.S. Please forgive me for not having Firefox as my default browser!) |
