Wired's bolg has shared latest information about the case, where Google reportedly still keeps detailed logs on its customers searches and internet activity.

The article Google Still Using E.U. Data Retention Ruse to Justify Massive Data Collection
is located at
http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2007/07/google-still-us.html

The blog entry states that "Google's policy is a complicated beast that keeps personally identifiable logs for all of its services globally 18 months, at which time Google attempts to anonymize the data by losing a few digits of the IP addresses of entries in the logs".

Wired just seem to be trying to cause issues where there is no problem. If the data is anonymised after 18 months, that means that its only use to Google is for statisical analysis. Hardly the crime of the century.

Who verifies that they anonymize it though?
