Here is a rare opportunity to find out.
Currently, the blog is #78 on Technorati Popular 100. Like most blogs near the ranking, it gets Thousands of visits daily.
Todays story (1am PST) is about a Site banned by Google and there is a direct link to that site – The site HAPPENS to have a public site stats tracker for visitors that also keeps an archive of previous days.
hmmm...this is something on hard core SEOs could appreciate – the rest of you, move along now to the next post ;-)

I don't get why this would be Search Engine Optimization. The links are nofollowed, so it's really Human Visitor Optimization (HVO?) – i.e. the links will possibly attract actual visitors directly rather than search engine spiders, indexing and, therefore, search engine referral traffic.
(Personally, when I read that post this morning I didn't see the need to click-through as Matt had posted screenshots... but I guess some people will click every link they come across and others are just too curious.) |
I clicked the link, but it's not the kind of Human Visitor Optimization that results in cash... just wasting his bandwidth without any sells, I guess!
Was I the only one thinking his name sounds a bit like Ionut Alex. Chitu? |

<<Was I the only one thinking his name sounds a bit like Ionut Alex. Chitu?>> It took me more than 2 mins to figure out that they are not the same person. :)
<<I guess some people will click every link they come across and others are just too curious.>> The site's design is attractive to me. |
<<Was I the only one thinking his name sounds a bit like Ionut Alex. Chitu?>> I had to read the name 2 times to be sure :) |

Getting your site talked about for the wrong reasons doesn't seem like something I would want to happen to any site I've worked on. You would probably get a spike in traffic at first but then no one would visit your site once they realized it as crap. |
