I see it on Digg too, a guy sent a screenshot.
My Gmail account is full at 32%, so it's not useful for me. But for some people I understand easily ^^

Brad emailed me about his account having 10 GB too. I asked him if it was perhaps a Google Apps for Your Domain Gmail account and wait for his reply...

I can reperduce this
just download http://www.gimp.org/
Capture the screenshot
find out what font they are using
find out what color they are using
earse the part that says how much space you have and put in a bizzare number instead :)

You don't need Gimp for it..just use the FF web developer toolbar to edit the html

i think its just the answer to .mac becoming 10gb.

shouldnt google be going after yahoo's unlimited thing instead?

Daniel & Nathan Maxson : A lot of people now report the same thing, I don't think it's a global fake. And the message in Google's Gmail Help Center may confirm this.

I just emailed Philipp a screenshot of my account. The only reason I checked today was because a friend of mine mentioned his mysteriously upgraded to 10GB. I've checked with a few other friends and they don't have it.

Ionut Alex. Chitu [PersonRank 10]

That 9030 number might be a mistake. Maybe someone should check.

RGJ_dk [PersonRank 1]

Hi. Mine is also showing "You are currently using 408 MB (4%) of your 9030 MB." I just went to check after seeing this post. Odd thing.

FYI, the login page still has a counter which maxes out at 3560MB. (It's currently at 2886)

Luka [PersonRank 10]

Maybe the 9030 Mb is due to the perpetual growth of Gmail Space ? Everybody should check during next days to see if it is still growing.

Are you kidding me?

I have this message in my gmail account:

"You are currently using 2853 MB (98%) of your 2886 MB."

The funny thing about that is when I go to the trash and delete all mails forever and receive a message like this:

"No conversations in the Trash. Who needs to delete when you have over 2000 MB of storage?!"

I need to!!! I have 98% of my account used! hehehe!

Armin L [PersonRank 1]

oh that makes sense... I have picasa premium (You are currently using 9486 MB (35%) of your 26624 MB.)

so if 26624 in picasa plus gmail is that why i have 28486?

wait that makes no sense it doesnt add up. hehe..

has anyone noticed the link to buying more storage on picasa has gone missing?? well at least in mine it has

are we about to be introduced to gdrive?

Ionut Alex. Chitu [PersonRank 10]

It's probably a bug. That number doesn't make any sense.

bradsucks [PersonRank 1]

Actually I have premium Picasa also. (I paid for it the day before the upgraded it to 1 gig.)

Philipp Lenssen [PersonRank 10]

> It's probably a bug.

If that would be true, then does that mean everyone who now quickly fills their 9 GB will have 9 GB permanently, because Google can't allow themselves to just delete people's emails? (Did anyone with 9 Gb try to cross e.g. the 3 GB limit?)

Kirby Witmer [PersonRank 10]

Armin, you must have some firefox extension or something installed, cuz your gmail layout is different.

I saw my account jump to 9030 today and thought it was a mistake. Sure enough, 9030 it is.

Isaack Rasmussen [PersonRank 1]

I have 9030MB as well, my friend who I invited has it as well. However another who I also invited haven't received it yet. And I think, the latter was actually earlier.

My account was created 2-3 after Google started the initial Beta testing in April 2004. It was ~995MB out of ~2880 before. I'm thinking that early and well used accounts might get it first?

Out of my 450 feeds, none have reported it yet, which is VERY unusual, so it might be rare among Gmail users.

jdbradford [PersonRank 1]

am on 9030 too :-)

hey i still have 2886 mb

tried signing in and out

damn it, why am i never lucky?
oh well whatever i guess 2886 mb is enought for me for now, anyways

maybe if someone has over 9000mb and invites someone that person will get 9000mb, or like isaack said maybe its the early and well/commonly used (aka "valued customers") get the upgrade first?

It appears if you have purchased premium space in Picasa, Google is giving us a "Drive" view of the space being used across all Google Services.
See attached image....

Is this the first step to sharing storage across all services???

Keith, cool! Looks like Google's just released their "shared storage" plans:

https://www.google.com/accounts/PurchaseStorage

<< With a Google shared storage plan, you won't have to worry about deleting files, pictures, or emails. After purchasing a storage plan, some of your individual Google services (e.g. email and photos) will share a single new storage space. >>

Looks like GDrive could finally be almost here folks!

TOMHTML [PersonRank 10]

Sounds like the starting of GDrive really, all it takes now is for Google to merge all the limits into something like 5GB and provide an backup utility (ala. Platypus)

I noticed that Google Docs, Pages, Base limits aren't included though (presumebly they are coming).

What about those who don't have an account on Picasaweb?

Oh, and not that i question your knowledge Roger, but how do you know this?

Ionut Alex. Chitu [PersonRank 10]

David, you could read Picasa Web's help files. They're available online:
http://picasa.google.com/support/bin/topic.py?topic=8989

Usually, simple searches answer most of your questions.

"When you use Blogger to create a blog with photos, a web album of those photos is created in Picasa Web Albums."
http://picasa.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=61627&topic=10824

So, when you upload a photo using Blogger, you're asked to accept PWA's terms and your photo is uploaded there. If you didn't use PWA before, you're going to use it indirectly as a storage service for your photos.

Martin Porcheron [PersonRank 10]

> What about those who don't have an account on Picasaweb?

Both Picasaweb and Blogger use Google Accounts.

Roger Browne [PersonRank 10]

David:

Google says: "Picasa Web Albums gives users 1 GB of storage just for Picasa Web Albums images."

Google stores Blogger images as Picasa Web Albums images. Google calculates and displays the storage used by the Blogger images in exactly the same way as any other Picasa Web Album photos. Therefore, to me, Google's statement means that they count the Blogger images within the 1 GB allowance.

David Hetfield [PersonRank 10]
