I find this Google News comment noteworthy for two reasons:

1. It appears on the Google News frontpage, not just a specific search results
2. The person making a comment, Jeffrey Buchanan, is not appearing in the Sunday Times article linked on top. He is only appearing in the story cluster of which this Sunday Times article is a part of. This may indicate that a comment is consistently shown below a story cluster.

Both points mean comments are given quite some weight and air time, at least if they're part of a popular cluster.

The comment's permalink – or rather, it's not a real permalink, because it will stop working (at least the URL I had for a comment I made to test this is broken today):
