Do you think the recent Orkut update means that Google will stick to Orkut in the USA or Europe?

i'm really looking for a more Googlish Social network because any current services are either porn/scam places like Orkut or stuffed with useless features...like Facebook or specialized in a particular domain like LinkedIn...

Well I was just think that they could come up with a more googlish thing. I mean. Orkut is ok but how come they do not replace the communities with the google groups?

A mix of blogger, youtube, picasa, gtalk or even google shared bookmarks could be a killer place...

Because Blogger, Google Video, Picasa, Gtalk, are already integrated with Orkut. Orkut admittedly isn't very Googlesh....yet. There is the spam problem and the website isn't exactly mindblowing in any aspect (features, interface, etc) but i assure you now that the new look is out we'll start to see them roll out new features.

I don't see how replacing Orkut communities would be beneficial...

I would like to see more features that could be taken from other Google products though. For instance, customizing the page layouts and colors of your profile and owned communities using features similar to Google Page Creator, maybe using Google Calendar to manage all those events that spread around Orkut, i would even love to be able to create photo albums on Orkut but simply combining all of Google's products under Orkut or having a separate google service for everything (blogger, video, picasa) in Orkut would be...chaotic.
