Google Reader Update ?Luka ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | Wednesday, September 5, 2007 16 years ago • 10,862 views |
I noticed that google changed their "loading" thing. It used to be a labs tube with some bubbles. Is that new ? Do you noticed other changes ?

Sorry for the second post but there are other things :
You can now hide the left "navigation menu" :

Or acces it with a new drop menu that float over other elements :

As strange as it seems, this new interface doesn't work if you have Google Gears Plugin installed in your browser. |

Using Firefox without Google Gears, I'm not seeing that new interface (from the US). Maybe they're just testing it out or rolling it out gradually. If it's the latter, I imagine they'll post something on the Google Reader blog: http://googlereader.blogspot.com/ |

Nice... I'm thinking about coming back to Firefox, Google Reader and all that stuff. But Opera is ok by now... |
TOMHTML ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
I don't see these things. Maybe a GreaseMonkey script?
IMHO, the "all items" interface is perfect for me, but the "manage subscriptions" interface sucks a lot. Really. |
pooin ![[PersonRank 8] [PersonRank 8]](image/postrank/8.gif) | 16 years ago # |
I get old interface. I have English interface and I'm in Spain (Europe) |
dpneal ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
i don't see any changes either |
Reto Meier ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
I can confirm, I was getting this at home this morning (FireFox and IE7 – no Greasemonkey scripts).
http://blog.radioactiveyak.com/2007/09/google-reader-ui-update.html
It went back to the old interface after about 30mins and now at work I get the old one. |

Maybe they're finally going to take it out of Labs, hence the removal of the Labs-style loading icon. Google Labs actually already lists it as having graduated: http://labs.google.com |

I cannot tell a lie, it was not my find: http://blogoscoped.com/forum/103780.html |

I know that the hiding feature is not new (shortcut: U key), not sure about the loading indicator though. (new to me) |
Luka ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
TOMHTML : you should know that I only use Greasemonkey scripts on 1st April to make you creasy about my gmail interface!
Now the feature is no more in my Reader interface.

Nice Ubuntu Linux desktop by the way :-) |
Luka ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
PierreS Thanks, I use Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty with "desktop-effect" (compiz), my 2 years old computer is faster than with XP even with the 3D desktop. Imagine if I had installed Vista...

Jared Cherup ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
I am getting the new interface as of now. The logo in the upper right still says LABS though. |
Jared Cherup ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
And just like that... it's now gone for me. |
Armin ![[PersonRank 1] [PersonRank 1]](image/postrank/1.gif) | 16 years ago # |
I have it.... although the logo still says labs for me also |
Armin ![[PersonRank 1] [PersonRank 1]](image/postrank/1.gif) | 16 years ago # |
Also the total number of items shows up instead of 100+ |
Luka ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |

Luka ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
September 7th is Google Birthday... Maybe some announcements will be made a this time... Google Fan must be patient! |
Bill Mac ![[PersonRank 9] [PersonRank 9]](image/postrank/9.gif) | 16 years ago # |
>Also the total number of items shows up instead of 100+
Nope, I'm afraid they've only bumped the threshold up a level of magnitude. I currently have 1000+ unread items. |
Inferno ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
OMG. I have search options in Google reader |
Martin Porcheron ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
Hehe, if you try searching for *.* it takes so long and then eventually causes a JS error.
They might want to fix that. |

[Moved from "Google Reader Out of Beta" – Tony]
I've just noticed that Google Reader is out of beta... Did this happen a while ago and I just didn't notice?
The processing icon is no longer the bubbling chemical bottle, but the logo has yet to be updated.
I also noticed that on http://labs.google.com Reader has graduated. |
TOMHTML ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
>September 7th is Google Birthday Be careful, they change the date every year ;-)
PS : just now I just pressed the button "refresh" and I get the new interface :) |
TOMHTML ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
Well, they also made changes in the "Trends" tab. New tabs : "Emailed" and "Read on mobile" |
Tony Ruscoe ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |
I am LOVING the new search functionality! |
Inferno ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |

Mrrix32 ![[PersonRank 10] [PersonRank 10]](image/postrank/10.gif) | 16 years ago # |

[Moved from "Google Reader learns to count!" – Tony]
You remeber?
"100+ Items", "All Items (100+)"
Look closer since the new release with the Search Bar:

It takes a while to come to Gears (I guess its when Gears checks for an updated version). |
