How does Google make money off of this? Seems to be a waste of time to me.... :D

It's not really fast, and I even got Flash errors (in French actually)!

SecurityError: Error #2060: Violation de la sécurité Sandbox : l’appelant ExternalInterface http://maps.google.com/mapfiles/cb/googlepano.028.swf ne peut pas accéder à http://www.google.com/moon/.

Then Google will launch it as one big product: Google Earth, Sky, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune... Oh I give up... Google Universe! (beta :D)

[put at-character here]Kirby: Promotion. It's a way to promote its products and linking people to them. For example they created a special page for educators* which links to resources (aka products) to help the teachers and the students, obviously all the resources are Google products (Earth/Sky, Maps, Youtube, etc.).

PD: Some links to http://www.googlelunarxprize.org/ seem to be dead, an early releaese maybe?

Post edit: Changed link URL from xprize.org -> googlelunarxprize.org. Added a sub-sentence, as marked in the post...

Type in address bar and hit enter

I need to do it twice: once for zoom and center in zone and another one to choose the point

Remenber:
www.google.com/moon
Type in address bar: javascript:iw('a17/8')
Hit enter
Type in address bar: javascript:iw('a17/8')

I just love the "Moon 2.0" poster they made :-D

Btw, just consider the amount of propellant used by each rocket launch. Is it wise to develop mass space tourism ?

A pity the cheese is gone; that was almost the best part.

Who wants to bet how many years before we see ads on the lunar map? I give it 5 years at the most.

Works fine on this end.

[put at-character here]PierreS: Let's worry about the effects of space tourism on the environment when we get there, ok? Frankly, I think it'll be a while before private space exploration gets to the point where it's fuel use will equal even a fraction of what current personal transportation (cars) use.
