Just out of curiosity, what part of the site at Register.com was this ad running on. I work for Register, and am just curious.

I'm still seeing a Google Apps ad in that position now, tho it's a different ad copy now (this time the teaser claim is "Documents and files which you left in the office, you can't edit elsewhere"):

I am not sure if this is new, but it's the first time I actually saw a paper-based ad for a Google product. This one is for Google AdWords. It's a full page ad published in the current (Sept 13, 2007) issue of the weekly Swiss magazine "WELTWOCHE".

It's in german. Unfortunately, it's too much to translate. Most important, they offer a 50 CHF gift certificate to new customers.

An AdWords gift certificate doesn't really cost Google anything does it? It seems to me that when you use the 50 CHF coupon your bid will inflate the price of the competitive ads appearing around it, therefore earning Google back more-or-less the value of the gift certificate.

Good thinking! They won't even allow you to use the coupon to pay for the account activation (cost 7,50 CHF) as stated in the fine-print...
Btw, never said the offer is good :) Still like Google :o)
