Ubuntu is planning its second LTS (Long Term Service) Version called Hardy Heron, and the Developper Summit Attendees page is packed with Google Devs. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDS-Boston/Attendees Does that mean anything ? Could Google announce a customized version of Ubuntu soon ? Goobuntu would go from internal to external, and would add Google apps and technologies deep into the system.
One of the dev officially comes for Goobuntu/Google, the others as Googlers |
Not likely in my opinion. Google, as with many large technology corps, contribute to Linux a lot already, this is simply the step up from contributing to the kernal. |
I see this:

No

I don't see this happening. |
This isn't the first Ubuntu thing organized at Google's headquarters. If Google wanted to keep its Linux plans secret, it wouldn't invite hundreds of enthusiastic bloggers who love having all their code, plans and information in the public. |

Google also hosted a "Joomla!Day", and Google has nothing to do with Joomla!. |
A second Goobuntu dev. We now have ten Googlers coming! |
