Google blocking whole IP-Ranges?

A couple of minutes ago I searched for something regarding the popular AV fritz!box and iptables. The result was in a forum which wasn't accesibble at the moment so I used the google-cache. There was a followup link to an other thread in the same forum and I wanted to read it in the google-cache to. So I pasted the whole link in a google searchbox and hit enter. What I got back was not the expected result but the following error messages:

A couple of minutes later I was able to search on google again.

Have you seen something like this before?

I got that once before but it let me do a captcha and get my search. a while back i remember a virus searching for new computers to send itself to. or something like that. Rather than have thier server die on them, they started blocking IP ranges. Unfortunately the error message was not very descriptive at that time and nobody knew what was going on, so a bunch of people thought google'd gone down. this was a while back, dotn remember how long...
