Philipp,

Have you ever seen Google return an RSS feed page as a result? I googled a phrase from my blog to see if Google had found it, and the second result was a link to my RSS feed.

http://www.google.com/search?lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Geobloggers%20adds%20Upcoming.org%20event%20mapping

It listed it as "File Format: Unrecognized"

Strange.

Its probably trained to exclude *.xml files but this isnt shown as such in the URL. it saw text in the content, thought maybe it was html perhaps, and indexed it.

I've seen it return Atom feeds with "File Format: Unrecognized – View as HTML" next to them.

(I think Google just tries its best to index every file type these days.)

Interesting. It doesn't seem very useful to me to have feeds in regular results, especially now that they have a "blog search" option. Maybe they need a feeds-only search.
