Philipp,
Have you ever seen Google return an RSS feed page as a result? I googled a phrase from my blog to see if Google had found it, and the second result was a link to my RSS feed.
http://www.google.com/search?lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Geobloggers%20adds%20Upcoming.org%20event%20mapping
It listed it as "File Format: Unrecognized"
Strange.

Its probably trained to exclude *.xml files but this isnt shown as such in the URL. it saw text in the content, thought maybe it was html perhaps, and indexed it. |
I've seen it return Atom feeds with "File Format: Unrecognized – View as HTML" next to them.
http://www.google.com/search?q=inurl%3Aatom.xml
(I think Google just tries its best to index every file type these days.) |
Interesting. It doesn't seem very useful to me to have feeds in regular results, especially now that they have a "blog search" option. Maybe they need a feeds-only search.

thats basically what blog search is. |
