Somewhat related and quite surprisingly, someone sent me an e-mail (Google Groups invite) to my GMail account but forgot the 'dot' in the address. Somehow, Google managed to deliver anyway.
Their DNS handling is quite clever! |
Gmail ignores dots in addresses. |
I started seeing this since ~two weeks ago. I thought that's part of the "Did you mean..." |
Well, learn something new every day I guess.

The url spelled wrong does give some interesting results. |
hey phillip,
can you tell me the reason of this problem. My blog has been around from about 7 months now but when I search for "techtracer" (name of my blog) it mentions a correction of "techtracker" but shows the homepage of my blog beneath it.
What should be done to correct this? |
All of this error-correction stuff has the unfortunate effect of encouraging people to remain in a state of ignorance about basic things like the proper syntax of Internet addresses and the difference between a browser address bar and a search engine input field. Darwinist theory would hold that it would be ultimately better for the species if such errors proved fatal and removed those who made them from the gene pool before they could reproduce. |
