I have also noticed when looking through my web history – that on occasions there appears to be activity which is not me (or cannot be accounted for). Have changed my password to see if this continues.
Has anyone else come across this? Any other ideas?

Google tries to provide some "Interesting Items" based on your web history. If these items are really not of interest to you, it's probably just because Google needs to work on the algorithms used.
