Google is going to become the next platform for development.. remember open API is the way to go.. FB paved the way for that type of paradigm!!

Google was first with the iGoogle gadgets back in 2005, but they don't have a social side. Yet.

If you have use the CityScape theme, it actually says on the page "Theme created by" I have a screenshot of mine, if you can't see it.

The current set of themes is juvenile. It looks like something designed by a 10 year old girl.

Even more annoying is that my rss feeds in igoogle don't update as quickly as in netvibes.

The google folks need to seriously remodel igoogle into something usable...and more polished. It's ridiculous how primitive looking a product igoogle is.

New themes appeared on my iGoogle account today.
My theme list now includes:
Classic
Aja Tiger
Autumn
Hong Kong
JR
Solar System (my new favorite)
Beach
Bus Stop
City Scape
Sweet Dreams
Tea House
Seasonal Scape

Laurenty, I don't have these. Can you post a screenshot?

Although, tweaking the technique David used in this thread:

http://blogoscoped.com/forum/113792.html

And some of my own digging, I can also get a couple of these themes:

Aja Tiger
http://www.google.com/ig/skins/tiger.xml
http://img0.gmodules.com/ig/images/skins/tiger.png

Autumn
http://www.google.com/ig/skins/autumn.xml
http://img0.gmodules.com/ig/images/skins/fallscape.png

Hong Kong
http://www.google.com/ig/skins/hongkong.xml
http://img0.gmodules.com/ig/images/skins/hongkong.png

JR
http://www.google.com/ig/skins/jr.xml
http://img0.gmodules.com/ig/images/skins/JR.png

If anyone wants a sneak peak at these new themes, to enable them in your page you can use the technique I described here, which means you can also view the new easter eggs:

http://ruscoe.net/blog/2007/03/google-personalized-homepage-easter.asp

e.g. enter this in your address bar (remove the line-break):

javascript:void(document.getElementById("ext_css").href=
"/ig/skins/tiger/tiger_3.14am.css");

Not sure what the URL is for Solar System though.

Thanks Ionut. I've added the URL for the Solar System XML file to my post.

Pluto is not on the list.. :/

BTW,
Ionut, there's a mistake in your post. In the autumn section, the correct address bar is:
javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/autumn.xml');

not

javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/autumns.xml');

If you type javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/autumns.xml'); you'll get the classic theme.

Pluto isn't a planet.

What about the Sun then?

He's right Pau.

<< On August 24, 2006 the International Astronomical Union defined the term "planet" for the first time, excluding Pluto and reclassifying it under the new category of dwarf planet along with Eris and Ceres.[2] >>

Didn't know that. Thanks for the newsflash Tony :)

No, that's not a planet either :-) I guess they must have renamed it "Solar System" after creating all the files, etc.

Since Pluto is not a planet but a dwarf planet, if they put Pluto they must put Eris and Ceres too. Using the Sun is the easy solution since we only have one star in the Solar System :)

Google must be doing a gradual release of the themes (pretty much like everything else they release)
The new themes are gone from iGoogle this morning, even though the Solar System theme that I selected last night is still active.
