Do a search on AOL
http://search.aol.com/aol/search?invocationType=comsearch30&query=parties&do=Search
then look at the Safe Search Link at the top
If you click on it – you will get a warning with the SERPS grayed out:
You are turning off SafeSearch
Certain web sites contain sexually explicit content considered unsuitable for younger users.
If you turn off SafeSearch, you may get results that contain or depict mature or sexually explicit content. By clicking the "Turn Off SafeSearch" button, you acknowledge that you are at least 18 years of age.
If you do not meet the age requirement or do not wish to proceed, click the "Cancel" button
|
Google.com itself uses "moderate" SafeSearch filtering by default (you can toggle 3 values on the Google.com preferences page; Strict, Moderate & None). |
but it doesn't display such a crazy warning when you change it |
The strange thing about Safe Search on both sites is it filters out perfectly SFW results from Image, Web, and Blog results, no matter how innocuous your search terms are...you actually *have* to turn it off to get *all* the results you might actually need.
