Head on over to http://theonion.com where Gmails ad campaign can be seen, with interactive ads like this one, reminiscent of ask.com's campaign http://aycu39.webshots.com/image/34158/2004180275572977867_rs.jpg .
Other's such as "The average person spends 10.8 minutes a week deleting spam-10.8 dull minutes at that-try Gmail" |
Does that mean the average person isn't using Gmail? Are we all above average then? :-) |
How do they know the average? |
or just gmail.com/fightspam |
type in 1, it's hillarious! |
On a side-note, I have this feeling that when you delete something without opening it, it also adds up as a "spam pattern". Because I get an email for every blog post Google publishes, and usually after checking the title I just delete it and/ or head over to the Google's Blogs page here. But after a while, all of a sudden all these messages were arriving in my spam folder. Weird... could be a coincidence though, and I'm not sure Gmail even has some "personal spam" setting (on a per user basis, that is, as opposes to requiring thresholds of say 10,000 times flagged-as-spam...). |
150 is max – everything beyond that gets "Oh my, our spam calculator doesn't go that high" |
Upper limit to of spam count to Chitu's link is 150, try giving a bigger number :)
I agree that spam filter of Gmail is very nice and very effective, but my main concern from ages is different
Why so much spam at the first place. I had my domain on some server before moving to Google Apps. There I had like 1-2 spam a day, but the day i moved to Google Apps, the count increased to say 10-20 a day. All these go into my spam box but why it started at all.
Is Google trying to fill in that box to show how effective they are?

Philipp I'm pretty sure there is a personal spam setting in Gmail as some of the news subscriptions I have on my other accounts which arrive in the Inbox are filtered out as spam in my most used account. So ... |
It accepts decimal places. I lied, I have never received 3.14159265 spam emails, but apparently it would take me 15 seconds to delete 3 emails. |
Wow, on a related topic, Gmail caught Google's Press Releases for Open Social and marked them as spam.
