I just said that because I find very cool the domain www.lol.cat redirecting to google.cat and I have done the same with hot.cat (hot.cat)

The domains .cat are related to Catalan culture but this does not mean that
they are difficult to have.

You just have to have Catalan as one of the languages of the domain so if
your domain content is interesting it maybe not so difficult to have a partner who translates some parts to Catalan.

In afraid.org you can have for free .cat subdomains.

in firefox i worked it out by choosing catalan at: eines, opcions, avançat, llengües.
and it's similar for ms explorer. i think it's called use language in there.
