Since Google seems to do a terrible job with filtering Chinese spam (and I don't know anyone who speaks Chinese) this will be really useful for setting up a filter to label any Chinese email [lang:zh] with Spam.

Also, what's interesting is that it seems to go with the majority of the content. e.g. I've got an email which is mainly in German but still contains English content but it doesn't display for a query like [lang:en sprache].

This is a great feature offered by gmail. For those emails that do contain English and another language (or 2 different languages) www.intransol.com offers translation of over 100 different languages and is a great place to get the whole email to a place that you can understand.
