Holiday Village..my favorite of all of them. Nice rich blue. I still wish they'd make desktop wallpapers of all the logos, tho.

Brinke, I thought the paragraph after the screenshot made it clear enough, but I have reworded it to make sure people know the screenshot came from you. :) |

I was just kiddin! (used to work @ CNET!) |
Laurenty | 16 years ago # |
what is the directory name for this theme? I tried holidayvillage, village, holiday... |
holzauge | 16 years ago # |
I find it ball-less how people feel obliged to avoid the term "Christmas" and call it "holiday" in order not to offend those easily offendable non-Christians living in Christian countries.
That being said, this is just a winter theme. |
Philipp Lenssen | 16 years ago # |
Holzauge, I think the idea is that there are more holidays than just Xmas around that time. See here for some previous discussion... http://blogoscoped.com/forum/79015.html |

The Holiday Village theme is back, FYI. Sometimes. It's there..and then it's not. I'm not sure they know what they're doing with this!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v247/brinkeguthrie/Untitled-2.jpg |
David Hetfield | 16 years ago # |
Ok, so this time can you get the link of the image Brinke? |
Brinke Guthrie | 16 years ago # |
How do I find that? |
Brinke Guthrie | 16 years ago # |
Now it's totally gone. Whatever. Back to Classic White for me....... |
David Hetfield | 16 years ago # |
That can't be good... :/
Next time use FireFox Brinke..:) |
James Xuan | 16 years ago # |
as much as I hate this phrase...
PWN!!!!!! |
David Hetfield | 16 years ago # |
Wrong pill again James? ;) |
Brinke Guthrie | 16 years ago # |
WHat does PWN mean? And Firefox isn't the answer- the theme isn't there for ANY browser. |
Ionut Alex. Chitu | 16 years ago # |
Just for reference, the theme should be here: http://www.google.com/ig/skins/holidayvillage.xml |
David Hetfield | 16 years ago # |
<< And Firefox isn't the answer- the theme isn't there for ANY browser. >> I know, but it's easy to get the URL of an image with FF.

<< David, I don't suffer from insanity, I ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!! >>
Yeah, i can tell :) |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
Brinke, The easiest way to find out what the theme location is: 1) Right click the iGoogle page your on with the theme active, and view the source. 2) Now do a search for .xml 3) That will give you the xml name needed to add that theme to other tabs if its not in the usual theme menu.
Then you can use the javascript code that Tony posted in the other theme post.
example: javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/holidayvillage.xml');
Granted this will only work for themes that aren't removed completely off the system. |
Kelly Littleton | 16 years ago # |
Thanks, Colin, but that didn't work for me... :(
Perhaps they have taken it off the system. If anyone can find the code, I would really appreciate it! This holiday village theme is their best yet – did you notice that at 3:14 (pi) they show the Northern Lights??? |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
Kelly Littleton, Yeah I tried to load the Holiday Village theme too and it has been removed. So when you try to load it, all you will see is the classic theme. |
Fongstress | 16 years ago # |
Do they know we want it Back. It is my favorite! I a m glad I am not the only one. Bring back the Holiday Village theme! |
Henrey Denkers | 16 years ago # |

Henrey Denkers | 16 years ago # |
I guess Google is not listening |
Ruthie | 16 years ago # |
Would love to use the Christmas theme, too. But, not after Christmas! |
Henrey Denkers | 16 years ago # |
It's back, but who knows for how long |
Brinke Guthrie | 16 years ago # |
Yup it's back for me too-----let's see how long this one lasts. |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
Henrey, is the xml file still 'holidayvillage.xml' ? |
Dan Ferter | 16 years ago # |
It's back for me now, been there and been gone a few times

hebbet | 16 years ago # |
Does anyone have an javascript to get the theme? |
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
hebbet, as posted by Colin and also in previous posts...
1. Visit www.google.com/ig.
2. Enter the following in your browser’s address bar:
javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/holidayvillage.xml');
3. Click the Save button.
NOTE – This will only work if you can actually see this file though:
http://www.google.com/ig/skins/holidayvillage.xml
BTW, it's showing for me too now for the first time, both on the server and in the theme selection box. |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
The holidayvillage.xml file isn't viewable to me. :( |
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
Colin, try adding an entry to your HOSTS file for www.google.com pointing to 66.102.9.104 and see if that works. |
Pau Tomàs | 16 years ago # |
I have it on my theme list right now |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
Tony, I tried editing my hosts file on my mac but it keeps telling me the file is read only and I guess I'm not changing the permissions correctly cause it won't let me change the file. I'll try playing with the file a little later and see if connecting to that IP will work for me. |
AmiLEan Questions | 16 years ago # |
Can anyone tell me how to have my iGoogle theme STAY even when I switch off my computer and switch it back on?.... without using the "sign in" option, that is! I don't want to have to sign into my google a/c each time!!! 8-/
Thanks folks! |
Brinke Guthrie | 16 years ago # |
It should remain the same. Maybe corrupted cookies? |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
This theme is finally in my menu of choices so no need to edit my hosts file. :) |
hebbet | 16 years ago # |
Before trying the JavaScript it wasn't in my list. But now after it is in. |
Suresh S | 16 years ago # |
Now available on the menu . :) |
