Tagging addresses in address book

I'm back :) Successfully did the first hackers convention in India.

Now an important question.
Is there a way by which i can tag email addresses in my address book & send mail to tags

Say i save info[put at-character here]blogoscoped save by name "Philipp BG". then the mail will reach Philipp showing "Philipp BG" in his mail. But say I want to tag him as a "webmaster" but don't want him to see that I have tagged him in that way.

Then I can send mails to all webmasters without using the term in their names or surnames.

I hope you understand what I mean

Is there anyway I can achieve this in gmail or Thunderbird?

Can't you just create a group?

not doable, now I've got the bad habit of TAGing

I need to tag one account with multiple tags. Was looking for some similar solution with email accounts too :)

Wouldn't that be adding the single contact to multiple "tag" groups then, which is possible right?

Groups = tags = labels (except that Gmail didn't add functionality to groups, like searching)

Yeah, they did. Try entering a group name composing an email. It'll bring up the group.

Or, I've misunderstood you..
