And are you sure you are using PHP5?

I use it on an online host PHP Version 5.2.5-0.dotdeb.2 so maybe something is not opened to use this kind of things.

I have uploaded a file phpinfo.php – what shall I look for to see if it is as it should be?

Do you have a site online where I can see it in use and not only the printscreen?
