Is it your birthday too, AEF?

Avrohom Eliezer Friedman (AEF) [PersonRank 10]

Friday is my birthday. Well technically, if you go according to the Hebrew calendar – it's today (the second day on the month of Shevat)

James Xuan [PersonRank 10]

Happy kinda birthday Avrohom!

TOMHTML [PersonRank 10]

thanks! save it for Friday (except for David)

David Hetfield [PersonRank 10]

I'm way of religion Avrohom.. :)

Avrohom Eliezer Friedman (AEF) [PersonRank 10]

<<I'm way of religion>>

I'm not sure what you mean. (way off?) Please explain.

But whatever you meant – the Hebrew calendar is not specifically a matter of religion – it is a lunar calendar. And while yes it has roots in religion, eg: two months of Adar and the holidays are based upon it – one doesn't need to be Jewish to use the calendar.

David Hetfield [PersonRank 10]

Yeah sorry, i meant way off.. (i'm awake for like... a lot..)

So what did you mean by saying save it for Friday, except David? :|

Avrohom Eliezer Friedman (AEF) [PersonRank 10]

I meant was that you're from Israel and the Hebrew/Lunar calendar means something to you as opposed to everybody else – so for everybody else I said wait till Friday – but for you, since you know about the Hebrew/Lunar calendar, I gave you permission to wish me happy birthday today – It's a little to late being that it's after sundown here so my Birthday is over – so I guess you'll also have to wait until Friday :)

Ben Allen [PersonRank 10]

Cheers.

Happy birthday!!! Late but sure.

[put at-character here]AEF: Happy birthday/someday for you too! But we may salute you again on friday. :P

Shimmy [PersonRank 1]

This is a mighty strange conversation, but i'd like to wish a happy moon birthday too.

Shimmy [PersonRank 1]

That is, to AEF. I would wait till friday, but this way i get to moon his birthday.

TOMHTML [PersonRank 10]

well, happy birthday AEF!!!

David Hetfield [PersonRank 10]

I really don't know much about the Hebrew calendar... and most people here don't use the lunar calendar Avrohom, But Happy birthday :)

/pd [PersonRank 10]

what time is it in israel now must be close to friday correct ??? I can't wait for Friday.. :(-

So anyhoot – happy B'day AEF!!

btw I had pun learning about "Adar" :)-

"Adar (Hebrew: אֲדָר, Standard Adar Tiberian ʾĂḏār ; from Akkadian adaru) is the sixth month of the civil year and the twelfth month of the religious year on the Hebrew calendar."

[..] As a result, someone born in Adar during a non leap year would celebrate his birthday in Adar II during a leap year. However, someone born during either Adar in a leap year will celebrate his birthday during Adar in a non-leap year, except that someone born on 30 Adar I will celebrate his birthday on 1 Nisan in a non-leap year because Adar in a non-leap year has only 29 days."

Sounds really complicated , especially if you are like me, if you belive that everyday is a b'day – a new day to live!! :)-

Avrohom Eliezer Friedman (AEF) [PersonRank 10]

You forgot one possibility that is a little more confusing – two people (let's say twins for the fun of it) are born during a leap year. One on the last day of Adar I and one on the first day of Adar II (could be just a few hours apart). During non leap years – the one who is younger – is tech. older due to the fact that he celebrates his birthday on the first of the month while his twin celebrates it on the last day of the month. (Have fun planning Bar-Mitzvahs!) And if you tell me that it's only technically true – you're wrong. According the the Jewish religion – by their Bar-Mitzvahs the one who was born on the first (younger) is a full fledged man on that day – while his brother doesn't get that status for almost another month. :)

Yes, you're right. We're only hours away from Friday. :)

[put at-character here]Avrohom
Lol. Nice example story :)

But as i said earlier, we don't really use the lunar calendar ;)
