In the Years 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007 were Doodles at Valentine's Day

google.com/logos/valentine03.g ...

google.com/logos/valentine05.g ...

google.com/logos/valentine07.g ...

But none in 2002, 2004 and 2006:

Will there be tomorrow one?

Luckily, the theme hasn't been applied to Apps accounts (not very business friendly really).

Martin, I don't see it here yet, even though I'm not using Apps ...?

I can resume my feelings in a simple snippet.

while (!$girlfriend) {
   echo "I hate Valentine's day.";
}

I hope the php.ini has a long time-out setting.

Don't like the Google logo today :(
Don't like Google Docs today :(

In the words of some guy on the radio:
"I know nobody loves me, somebody obviously felt the need to create a day to remind me"

Is that couple in the logo walking towards the light? :p

[moved from new thread "Google Docs gone pink for Valentine's day" -Philipp]

The entire interface of Google Docs is all pink, with a prominent banner at the top saying 'Happy Valentine's Day', and with the star icon replaced by a pink heart. At the risk of sounding liking a grump, I wish they wouldn't do this. Not everyone celebrates Valentine's Day – including those with partners. I don't mind having the Google logo on the search page having themes, but this is too much. At least provide a link to switch back to the normal colour scheme.

Its looking BAD

I agree with Ben. Changing a logo is fine but changing the color scheme AND the icons is bad, bad, bad.

Can you imagine if your operating system or desktop application changed how they look on different days of the year?

They seem to be walking along a beach (the blue is the ocean).

Gee, I actually have to work with Google Docs today... the revamped interface is annoying (a broken heart icon means unstarred etc.). Guess Google doesn't consider it a serious tool yet and rather opts for promoting it some more. A management that lets this gimmick pass is also kind of a bad sign for future decisions.

It's so bad my first thought was that someone must have actually hacked into their systems and played a Valentine's day joke on Google.

I liked the logo but I was not impressed with the color selection. I think that Google should have done more research first. Valentine day has become a big business in any part of the world now. So, no wonder, Google wants the same. However, I expected something more creative from Google.
I am giving you link of a romantic short story here:

Changing working/functional elements in a working interface, without notice, just because of a holiday on the calendar (that not everyone celebrates, anyway) is bad usability practice. They need a rethink! I hope they never stop the cute illustration/logo on their main search page, but this is not a functional area. Changing icons and moving interface elements is a different matter.

Now if they'd managed to have GDocs deliver chocolate to me today, all would be forgiven. :)

As a non-Chocoholic, I'd only settle with GDrive as a reason, frankly (there's always April fools day though).

More from Google:

"Send a geo-located greeting to a loved one"

"Bitter? Break some hearts"

Hey! I thought the Google Docs change was cute! :D

And in response to Philipp's post, I felt the river looked more like a beach, to me.
