Is the "1 book" in stock thing just a marketing trick by Amazon to sell books?

Well, in my case, they buy the book from Lulu in certain (low) quantities, say a dozen or so. Then they wait until those sell out, before ordering new... or at least, that's how I understand this process, I'm not exactly sure!

I guess for low-selling books they buy one at a time. No need to keep more than one in stock if they only sell one every few days.
