It's not even about Obama :D but I love that song!

I'm not really surprised since it has a provocative title, it's a pretty good song, and it was recently on an iPod commercial. Sounds like a recipe for top YouTube video if I ever saw one.

And then anyone searching for the song inevitably came across the music video. I know because even I had found it back in November, and at the time I don't think there were any other results for "Cansei de Ser Sexy" on YouTube.

Josef, most (active) members on this blog/forum aren't american, and that fact was pointed out in the post

My sense is that a large percentage of those music videos on YouTube, weather the original or a fan-made version are just excuses for distributing free tunes. In this case, if is the original artist made video then why isn't it a blatant copyright violation? Unless of course the artists approved of it.

Can someone back up the "official video" claim? As far as I can tell, the band never released an official video for "Music Is My Hot Hot Sex." As I said in <a href="http://www.waxy.org/archive/2008/03/05/new_vide.shtml">my post</a>, it was created by a fan using green-screen footage from the Qoob.tv video contest for another CSS song, "Alcohol." He says as much in the video description, that he created it with iMovie and so on.

Update [also added to the post]: Andy Baio followed up with an interview with the video's creator [ http://www.waxy.org/archive/2008/03/05/intervie.shtml]. Translated from Italian, Clarus Bartel says: "Never would I have imagined that such an ugly video, made on a whim, would make it to the top of the charts. (...) I get constant messages accusing me of being a hacker, when i barely know how to turn a computer on and off." Clarus adds that he's deleting hundreds of insults from the video comments every day, which he says may explain the odd views to comments ratio. "But for the rest of this absurd occurrence, I have no explanation."

Leon, Andy says the video creator is Italian, and as you can see in Andy's post, the creator's interview answers are indeed given in Italian, not Portuguese. Furthermore, Andy says this video is not official, but a user-creation. At least not the video creation as whole, that is, I'm not speaking about individual footage used – the footage *is* original and it is the band indeed. Quote from the creator's answer: <<It all started with the Qoob music channel's video contest. I didn't participate in the contest, I just downloaded the footage in order to edit it and I added a different track. I cut out some scenes where they were singing, added some effects to the background, and then I uploaded it to YouTube.>>
