Gmail 6 GB, When?

Do you happen to know the date when Gmail started having a 6 GB of storage space i.e. quota for free (now it's already 6500 MB)? Does anyone have statistics on the web for the storage space sizes? I noticed it last month, but haven't found news about the date.

As far as known this is just a virtual figure, even if you go bigger than 6,5GB there is now real limit, I think for the moment...

So currently it's on a linear path to reach 43,008MB in ~363 months, and it's at ~6505MB right now. However it's likely they'll add new entries to slow/increase the rate as they have done in the past.
