"The author of this message requested that it not be archived. This message will be removed from Groups in 6 days (Mar 18, 5:47 pm)."
I just noticed the above msg on on google group. How, does a poster request this function during a post ? I dint see any option on the UI to trigger this and any idea how Grop manager gets notifies of such a post ??

Ionut Your correct – "this is a Usenet group " |
There is a widely-implemented NNTP header used for Usenet newsgroups:
"X-No-Archive: Yes – this header ensures that your post is removed from the newsserver after 14 days.
X-Archive: expiry=n – this header ensures that your post is removed from the newserver after a defined number of days"

NNTP also allows for "Cancel" messages to be sent, to erase a previous posting. I wonder whether Google Groups supports these. |
