Google Calculator is one of those tools which can be really useful on the go. Is there a Gtalk interface for the Google Calculator? |
What's wrong with opening a standard calculator program on your desktop? |
"On the go" = on a mobile phone?
If so, use Google Mobile: google.com/m . Example: http://www.google.com/m/search?mrestrict=xhtmlonly&q=7*8+meters+in+inches
You can also type/paste an expression in Firefox's search box and it's evaluated without having to perform a search. |
Cool. They must have recently added Google Calculator to the mobile search version as it wasn't working 3 weeks ago:

Don't most cell phone have a calculator feature/app? The last 3 phones I've owned had one. |
Colin, don't forget that Google Calculator isn't just a calculator. I've often used it to convert between e.g. US fluid ounces and British fluid ounces. And my phone can't do that. |
Tony: It worked in January, for example: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2008/01/tips-for-google-mobile-search.html (second screenshot) |
Tony, your right. Its more than a calculator. I've used it for currency conversions as well. |
Ionut: It seems my mobile was somehow accessing the UK version of the mobile site which doesn't include Google Calculator functionality: http://www.google.co.uk/m/search?mrestrict=xhtmlonly&q=7*8+meters+in+inches
I don't understand why the US and UK versions of Google's services are so different. I know localization takes time but the UK version only needs a quick review rather than going through the full localization process... |
