Just used it to Check Lifehacker.com, which coincidentially is where I first read about it :P

Have you tried WatchMouse? It's similar, only it tries from multiple locations. There's also JustPing, which instead of accessing the website tries to ping the server the site is hosted on.

Examples:
watchmouse.com/en/checkit.php? ...
just-ping.com/index.php?vh=blo ...

I use them when a user reports that one of my sites isn't up, just to double check where the issue is.

This should be stickied in the forum. Seriously, though.

Yes, but this is a useless site. Google is currently "up," but it's not google. It's this:

You have reached the future home of:
www.google.com

Need to Register a Domain Name? As a premier domain solution provider, DomainPeople offers you more than just domain registration. When you register your domain names with us, you also get all the features and tools you need to successfully manage your online identity:
Business card Web page
Unlimited email forwarding
Domain forwarding
Centralized account management
Customizable domain name server
Domain locking
Plus, you get DomainPeople's industry-leading 24/7 live customer support.

I'd say that's not "up", but "hacked", wouldn't you?

This thread is locked as it's old... but you can create a new thread in the forum.
