What is the correct search syntax when sending other Gmail users a search url to search through their mailbox locally?
E.g., knowing someone earlier received a msg with "Unique String Terms" from me, I tried editing my local search url to make it more universal:
http://mail.google.com/?s=q&q=Unique.String.Terms+from%3AmyGmailUsername&nvp_site_mail=Search+Mail
but got inconclusive answers from the recipient, which may be due to my msg having already been deleted there, or simply because the recipient doesn't get the concept of searching-thru-mailbox-method. |
Here:
http://mail.google.com/mail/#search/Unique+String+Terms+from:myGmailUsername
(They must be using the new interface for this to work.) |
I think a search like the following (which searches for "test") will also look in spam and trash, if you want that:
http://mail.google.com/mail/#advanced-search/subset=ast&has=test&within=1d |
philipp it would be great to create a page or ebook with all these tricks(if you already haven't done that)
I missed this last time but found your way much easier and effective.

There's no trick here. You just do what you intended to do (for example, search) and copy the URL from the address bar. |
Rohit, while not an ebook, but a book: there is one hack in Google Apps Hacks dealing just with the various ways to link to parts in Gmail and how you can use that.
