I mentioned Mapjack.com on the 15th of March: http://blogoscoped.com/forum/126466.html
It's a pretty cool competitor. |
Looks like MapJack also added one other city to their list, Sausalito, CA, USA. That wasn't available the first time I posted this on Blogoscoped. |
The image quality on MapJack is impressive. Seems they are able to go in areas that you can only walk down too.
I also like the date display on the image

Stephen, Yeah its pretty cool that they photographed areas that you can't get to by car. The MapJack team can use a scooter, car or walking unit to take these pics.
The only complaint I have with MapJack pictures are you can't change the vertical position of the zoomed out picture (Default picture). With Google StreetView, The camera allows you to look up at objects and get a different perspective. |
Example of what I meant above: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=el+capitan,+yosemite&sll=37.716039,-119.638449&sspn=0.027736,0.067635&layer=c&ie=UTF8&t=h&cbll=37.724368,-119.640185&cbp=1,23.493199723754458,,0,-26.380202488157636&ll=37.745947,-119.643259&spn=0.029292,0.061884&z=14&source=embed
If MapJack photographed this national park with their current procedures, you would miss seeing cool parts of Yosemite. |
