I mean, they never did much with the service to begin with. And even though Google is supposedly working on an updated GTalk client, they have really ignored it too.

It's not discontinued. The service currently returns a 502 error.

But the post on the Music Trends group sez, "Dear Music Trends followers, We're sad to have to report that Google Music Trends is being deactivated."

I didn't read that message. Anyway, the project wasn't very interesting and you can always get better rankings at last.fm: last.fm/music/+charts/track/

Yep, I use last.fm actually, and it works well for me =)

last fm is good, but I prefer jiwa.fm. muxtape is good too, but certainly not to track tracks.

Google Music Trends data wasn't updated for many months.

It was only a lab product anyways. I guess after almost 2 years it was time to let it go.

I've been using Last.fm for some time.
Seeing your tracks that you've played in your Web History was cool. Kind of out of place, though.

Um. I can see the tracks that I've played in my Web History still today. I never verified that this ended. I guess it was just tracking popularity of songs that ended.
