is there any way to keep gmail in HTML view?

trying to get my girlfriend to switch but she's very attached to yahoo and internet explorer and the normal gmail is slow for her but it won't stay in html view. bookmarking the url of html view isn't very convenient...

If i log in and switch to HTML view then, it stays until I change back, maybe thats something to do with the cookie or perhaps because I have "Remember me" turned on
