Is it just me, or has blog-journalism degenerated so far already, that any mere (whiff of a) *promise* of deployment of new technology somewhere is automatically treated as faït-accomplí, dividends taken out in advance, in the minds of such mindless wishful-thinking "pro-bloggers" as this? But the handsets aren't here yet, and it'll take a few years before both these technologies mature enough to be globally, or even Chicagally, viable. And in the meantime, some uppity iPhone with outdated, but adequatech wireless tech, will keep carving out ever bigger market shares for itself.]

[...] here's where it gets really interesting for Chicago, among the first markets to get a taste of WiMax: mobile phones with the ability to go online at speeds that rival a homes cable modem connection. [...] Might we soon see the Android platform on a cool touch-screen phone that will sprint like a rabbit past a turtle, such as the 3G-enabled iPhone coming soon to Apple and AT&T stores? [...]"
