The Blogoscoped site search is now using Google's REST API, which is much easier to work with than the AJAX API. Also, there will be some results coming straight from the database so it doesn't matter when Google didn't index a particular page. You can also search for direct HTML matches, e.g. searching for a full URL will show whether the URL has been posted anywhere before. I just fine-tuned it with Tony.

Feedback welcome now!

So far it appears to be finding more than the old search did so I'm all for the update. Are the image thumbnails at the bottom new? I don't remember that in past searches.

Yep, those are new as well, it's Google's recent REST API set to the image search type. If those images turn out to be not relevant for most searches, or noisy, perhaps there can be an additional search type selection box.
