With Google Site Search (http://www.google.com/sitesearch/) you can "put a Google search box on your website and enable prospective visitors and customers to find information instantly," Google says. It's apparently a bit like Google Custom Search deluxe, with support and more. What's interesting is that this service is paid – and lists the following as a feature:
<<Enhanced Index Coverage ensures comprehensive search results on any website by crawling and indexing more content, even for pages deep within a site.>>
However, the FAQ explains:
<<Are pages indexed in the Google Site Search index eligible for inclusion on Google.com?
While inclusion in the Google Site Search index does not prevent a page from being added to the Google.com results, the two indexes use different selection criteria for indexing site and pages.>>
And:
<<Will using Google Site Search improve my site's indexing or ranking on Google.com?
No, using Google Site Search will not have any effect on a page's inclusion or ranking in the Google index. The new Google Site Search index is designed to improve the results for Google Site Search sites. Any additional pages in the Google Site Search index aren't included in Google's index and won't impact a site's behavior in the Google search results.>>
