I was a bit cautious at first, but now I've had chance to see it on every Google web service I use, I've got used to it, and I too quite like it.

I'm afraid I'm not a fan of that colourful "G" – I think that Catull should still be used.

Each Google service should have it's own favicon (on login and pos-login pages) to be more recognizable on the bookmarks toolbars and tabs.

How many Google services have their own icons right now? Gmail displays its own mail icon... any others?

Google Reader also has his own icon

Google Maps could have this as favicon: http://maps.google.com/intl/en_ALL/mapfiles/icon.png

Fresh Design, I like it.

I do adore the new google favicon. For one reason alone – it looks like the vertical mathematical symbol of infinity to me – and it does suit Google very well :) What do you guys think?

These services/sites have their own favicon:
Calendar
Reader
Mail
Sites
Finance
Groups
Picasa
Documents
Spreadsheets
Presentation
Desktop
Blogger
Notebook
Orkut
Web Accelerator
Health
YouTube

A few services still have the old G favicon:
Video
Code
Checkout

And there were at least 3 or 4 services that seemed to be missing a favicon altogether.

(weren't we talking about the new favicon here http://blogoscoped.com/forum/133285.html ?)

I don't like the simon-G, but the design from Valera Namazov (the circle with colours) looks great.

I personally like the icon in the grid at position 4, 4. It's a simple blue G on white. I really dislike the huge Simon memory game G at the top of this post.

Hm, i don't agree to you. The one at the top of this post is much better than this semi-professional one Google's using actually. I don't like it in any imaginable way. Big design mistake. Please use this one.. ;-)

I agree with Anonymous Poster – the capital blue G was my favourite too.

Google Reader also changed it's favicon, but there seem to be some issues with the rollout. Depending on what Google server you get redirected to, there are different icons right now:

The old one: http://google.com/reader/ui/favicon.ico

A new one: http://www.google.com/reader/ui/573007822-app-icon-32.png

I also get a non-antialiased version of the new one sometimes, though I don't know, if it's just Firefox messing up the scaling.

[put at-character here]Philipp: Please consider using "max-width" instead of "width" for the CSS (.forumImage)... ;-)

I just found a 64px wide version of the new logo as well:

That's the version that Firefox scales badly into a favicon.

The Finance favicon is new:

I find the new favicon too pedestrian. Something about the combination of the lowercase g (which I don't yet at all associate with Google (at least, not yet)) and the too understated color scheme. Maybe if they went with white "g" on the blue background it would work. I generally prefer the uppercase G icons.
