That's really, really weird...

Same translation applies for it-bg, it-cz, it-de, it-es, it-fi, it-fr, it-gr, it-hr, it-nl, it-no, it-pl, it-pt, it-ro, it-se and even for it-Hindi!

it-ru transcribes the letters to kyrillic: Барак Обама.

For Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean I cannot read the result...

Isn't it because of the "suggest better translation" button && people having fun with it?

If you translate from italian to japanese and then back from japanese to english you get "BARAKKUOBAMA".

it would be interesting to know how Vittorio found this out...

It seems to be back to normal now – the translation shows 'funny guy'.
Weird though!

Here's a way to post permalinks:
http://translate.google.com/translate_t?sl=it&tl=en&text=simpaticone

I'm sure Google adjusted this error manually.

Thing is, the translations from the Italian simpaticone into Dutch Spanish Swedish, German and Greek (??) are all 'funny guy'! That's not right!

The GoogleGazer (googlegazer.com/) notes that doing what the post says on http://translate.google.com/translate_t?sl=it&tl=en yields the result "funny man". Sounds like they fixed it.
