one year ago youtube launched the youtube remixer. It was available at youtube.com/ytremixer that site is now a profile.

What happened to it?

They probably got rid of it, it's not even in the TestTube anymore.

Probably there were some sort of deals between Adobe & YouTube but the terms expired after a year.

No, Mike, he's just an ordinary user. You can create accounts using usernames ytremixer, community etc. even if there's already a YouTube web page that uses your name. Some examples:

youtube.com/user/community vs youtube.com/community
youtube.com/user/groups vs youtube.com/groups
youtube.com/user/inbox vs youtube.com/inbox

But the url for both the private user and official YouTube Remixer service was/is youtube.com/ytremixer
Can Youtube retract a user name for its own purpose?

Most likely, youtube.com/name redirects to youtube.com/user/name unless there's a YouTube page that uses "name", like YouTube Inbox.

You don't think that Remixer has been superseded by YouTube Video Annotations?

I think Annotations is a more interesting product, because it lets you make interactive "multiple-path" videos. The existing interactive videos are rather clunky, e.g. the Interactive Magician

+ Show video

but I think there's great potential here when it's made more seamless.

(The interactive features don't seem to work when the video is played on this page.)

Hi,

MTV has it on now: remix.mtv.com/contest8.aspx and www.photobucket.com uses the tool. It's based on Adobe Premiere Express. I'd've loved to see it on YouTube though.
