I always stopped myself from asking this, not to look stupid. But it was just stuck in my head for a while now. Why is Google Blogoscoped logo almost identical to the archive.org's WayBack Machine logo? Any history to it? archive.org/images/wayback.gif

Yeah, this popped up before here... there's no particular reason, except that I suppose the simpler a logo gets the higher the chance there's similar logos elsewhere out there. The two logos use the same base font for instance – Slack Casual – and separating two words in a title by color is also nothing too specific. Added to that, Slack Casual is a very distinctive and memorizable font I think, so it will increase the chance you'd think of two logos as likely if they use that font... |
Philipp, not sure if the forum is feeding RSS for comment too, under the blogoscoped rss feed. I caught this item on FF here

I normally dont see Forum comments /posts on FF, only main blog entries |
/pd The Blogoscoped Room includes both the main feed and the forum feed, and has done for a couple of weeks.

If you look at the services on the right you can see there are two feeds.

Philipp Thanks. I like the fact that the thin-looking fonts hide the long name.

Hmm – learning a bit at a time :) On the logo similarities, : well done for legitimate observation! Even same font proportions!! Quite close! There have been law suits because phone companies Swedish Telia uses a pink color just similar to Deutch Telecom of Germany. Deutch Telecom recently lost the suit in court – but such similar logo disputes have been won before. Is Wayback Machine, a separate unrelated company, then they could be offered some kind of symbolic consolation settlement ? |
Here's another post about logos that look similar – note there's also a Google service in the mix:

Philipp: Some of those logos are remarkably similar, but I don't get the British Paints and Pagan Osbourne comparison. They're not even close to me.
